SNL Roster is a reference site about the cast of Saturday Night Live. It has no accounts, no sign-in, and no newsletter. It never asks you for your name, your email address, or anything else about you.
It does use Google Analytics to count visitors, and it shows ads from Google AdSense. Both of those involve Google receiving information about your visit. This page says what that means in plain terms.
What is collected
Google Analytics records that a page was viewed, and which of the site's controls were used: a search, a filter, a column sort, opening a performer's card, or following a link out to Wikipedia. Alongside those it receives your IP address, your approximate location derived from it, your browser and device type, and the page that referred you.
Searches are recorded as text. The search box on this site matches cast members' names, so what it captures is which performers people look for. Please don't type anything private into it; there is no reason to, and it would be recorded like anything else.
None of this identifies you by name, and none of it is sold. There is no database on this site holding anything about you: the site itself is static files, and every piece of measurement described here happens in your browser and goes to Google.
Advertising
Ads on this site are served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technology to choose which ads you see and to measure whether you interacted with them, which in some cases draws on your activity on other sites.
At My Ad Center you can review and change what Google uses for this, including turning personalised advertising off entirely. Turning it off does not remove the ads; it makes them less relevant.
Cookies and consent
If you are in the UK, Switzerland, or the European Economic Area, no cookie is set and nothing is stored on your device until you say so. You will be shown a consent notice, and until you choose, measurement runs in a stripped-down form that stores nothing and cannot follow you between visits. You can change your answer at any time through the same notice.
Elsewhere, cookies are set on arrival, in line with local practice. You can clear or block them in your browser's settings whatever your location, and the site works normally without them.
Your choices
- A content blocker or tracker blocker will stop both the analytics and the ads on this site. Nothing here tries to detect or defeat one, and everything on the site works with one running.
- Google's own Analytics opt-out add-on blocks Google Analytics across every site that uses it.
- Your browser's private or incognito mode discards cookies when you close the window.
Images and data
Photographs and cast data are stored on this site's own server, not loaded from Wikipedia or anywhere else while you browse. Viewing a performer's card does not tell Wikipedia, or any other third party beyond the two named above, that you looked at it. Following a link out to Wikipedia does, in the ordinary way that following any link does.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. There is no mailing list to notify, so the date is the honest signal.
Getting in touch
Questions, corrections, takedown requests, or anything else: info@snlroster.com. Corrections to the roster itself are usually best made on Wikipedia, since this site is generated from that article and will pick the fix up on its next refresh.
